Andrea reigns over the Forté Fortress with grace and guile. She is a leading lady when it comes to building the most talented teams and this gladiator wears everything from Converse high tops to heels. When she’s not focused on delivering (or creating) the next great thing to hit your screen, she can be found thoughtfully curating the office cookie/chocolate/confections selection.
Andrea Gabourie is a multiple, internationally award-winning Creator and Executive Producer and one of Canada’s leading entertainment professionals. As the President of Toronto-based FORTÉ Entertainment, Andrea’s reputation is built upon her creative expertise, business acumen and exceptional broadcaster and client relationships. FORTÉ recently completed post production on the upcoming Disney+ hybrid scripted/reality program, THE QUEST, launching in May 2022.
Andrea has created and produced several highly successful productions in both Canada and the US, including the documentary series How I Got Here (BYUtv/superchannel), competition food program Snack Attack (Cooking Channel us), acclaimed factual series Hello Goodbye (CBC), and fashion competition series Stitched (Slice), Project Runway All-Star Challenge (Lifetime) and Project Runway Canada (Global/Slice), the International Emmy Award®-winning Snapshots (CBC Kids) and highly successful family game show, zoink’d (YTV).
Andrea was a pioneer in branded content within broadcast series and has worked successfully with brands as diverse as L’Oreal, Winners, Rogers, Mazda, General Motors and Mattel. In 2014 Andrea was entrusted with creating and producing a new, branded entertainment series for TJX Canada (Winners/HomeSense/ Marshalls) called STYLE+TV, which marked the retailer’s biggest foray into the branded content space. Andrea’s production expertise has also attracted international business, including the live special, Bryan Adams in Concert, for the legendary PBS Series, Great Performances.
Andrea is a leader recognized for her dedication to mentoring and fostering new talent in the film and television industry and is a member of WIFT-T, the CMPA and Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television. Andrea’s programs have won awards around the world including the Banff Rockie Awards, Gemini Awards, NY Festivals Film & TV Awards, the Columbus International Film & Video Festival and the Japan Prize.
Prior to founding FORTÉ, Andrea was previously the Director of Live Action Production for Corus Entertainment, where she ran the affiliated live action production division and oversaw the development and production of over 100 hours of in-house programming a year for Corus’ television broadcast properties, including W Network, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network Canada, YTV and CMT.
She is a mother of twins, and a nationally published writer, with her work appearing in publications such as Elle Canada, Today’s Parent and the National Post.
