Mitch is the King of Creative at FORTÉ and can often be heard saying things like: “If Venus collides with Mars…” on set, in an edit suite or on a network call. Mitch has a deep, unwavering respect for the coffee bean and is happiest when he is sneaking up and scaring the crap out of someone.
Mitch Gabourie is an accomplished creator and series producer/director/writer. His creative work spans multiple genres from scripted drama and comedies, to feature films and factual television.
Mitch is currently an Executive Producer and Showrunner on CBC’s hit primetime documentary series, Hello Goodbye. He was the co-creator, series producer and director of the OWN documentary series, Life Story Project, as well as the half-hour sitcom The Buck Calder Experience, for CityTV. Mitch also recently showran the Discovery ID’s series The Worst Thing I Ever Did.
Mitch is also an acclaimed writer, having recently penned three MOW’s for the Hallmark Channel, and a long form director with credits including The Hitchhiker, Black Stallion and Forever Knight. As a much sough-after documentary director, Mitch has directed projects including the DGC-nominated Mob Stories for The History Channel, Ultimate Access and Conspiracy Test for Discovery Channel, Project X for CBC and several documentary specials for Bravo’s Arts & Minds.
Mitch’s feature film directorial career began with the MGM thriller Buying Time featuring Dean Stockwell, landing Mitch the DGC’s Most Promising New Director nomination and his film Angel Walk was selected for screening at TIFF and won the Best Drama award at the Portugal Film Festival.
Mitch is also an award-winning commercial director, with his spots for clients such as Molson, Dell, Ford, Scotiabank, Sony and Samsung winning awards at the Bessies, Canadian Comedy Awards, the Addy’s and at the prestigious Cannes Lions Advertising Festival.
